Unlike in subsequent appearances, the main idea of Bonus Levels is to obtain common items, such as bananas, animal tokens, or even a Life Balloon. There are usually two or three Bonus Levels in a level, although five of them appear in Orang-utan Gang, which has the most Bonus Levels out of every level.
